Melbourne-born, and mostly Melbourne-based, Ben is currently on study leave form his position as a senior associate in the intellectual property and communications team at a top-tier Australian law firm. His areas of expertise include copyright, patents, trademarks, and geographical indications, among other things in the IP and technology space. He is passionate about exploring the connections between intellectual property regimes and development, and the conflict between rewarding creativity and ensuring public access to new works.
Ben graduated in May 2016 from Harvard Law School with a Master of Laws. He completed his masters thesis on trademark and geographical indication issues in China’s tea industry. He was also a Teaching Fellow for CopyrightX. He also holds a Juris Doctor and B.A. (Hons.) from the University of Melbourne.
Apart from English, he speaks German and Mandarin.
