Lawrence Liang

Lawrence LiangLawrence is a copyright expert and open access activist. He is the co-founder of the Alternative Law Forum, Bangalore. He has written extensively on translating open source ideas into the cultural domain and has authored The Public is Watching: Sex, Laws and Videotape and A Guide to Open Content Licenses. Lawrence’s articles have been published by various newspapers and websites, including the Indian Express, Kafila, The Wire and EPW. He has also been featured in the online piracy documentary ‘Steal This Film.’

Lawrence is a graduate of National Law School of India University, Bangalore. He subsequently pursued his Masters degree in Law and Development at Warwick, on a Chevening Scholarship. Lawrence completed his Ph.D. on the idea of cinematic justice at Jawaharlal Nehru University.
